Rules of thumb
- Common stock lengths: Timber/trim 5.4 / 4.8 / 3.6 / 2.4 m · SHS/RHS 6.5 / 8 m · plasterboard sheet 1200 × 2400/2700/3000 mm
- Paint coverage: ≈ 10–12 m²/L per coat on a sealed surface (always check the data sheet).
- Concrete bag yield: 20 kg pre-mix ≈ 0.0108 m³; ~92 bags per m³.
- Tile wastage: Allow 10% standard, 15% for diagonal/large-format or patterned lays.
- Stair comfort (AS 1657): Riser 115–190 mm · going 240–355 mm · 2R + G ≈ 550–700 mm.
