About this tool
Rate Builder lets you construct a unit rate from its components — material, labour, plant and margin — one line at a time, so the final number is auditable rather than a guess. It's aimed at estimators who need to show how a rate was built, not just what it costs.
How to use it
- Name the rate, e.g. 'Install 100x100 SHS bracket'.
- Add a line for each cost component and choose its type (material, labour, plant).
- Set the quantity and unit cost for each line.
- Add your margin — the rate builds up automatically as you go.
